About the Farmers
Grassland Oasis is run by Fred Lyssy, Jr. in Three Oaks, Texas. Wife, Amber assists some, especially with marketing. Our son & daughter are getting to be big helpers and our dogs are never far behind offering their assistance.
We strive to be good stewards of land and livestock. When we make a decision we must realize how it will effect everything, not only now but 20 years from now. This is the holistic approach.
We love to read and learn and admittingly have much to learn. Spending time together while enjoying great food is something we really value. We are fortunate to be able to create these high quality meats for our own family, but we feel even more blessed to have the ability to provide them
on a greater scale to those in South Central Texas.

a little background . . .
Fred has been an enthusiastic farmer his entire life. His learning began growing up on the family dairy. He assisted his father with daily jobs & his mother in the garden. At 15 years old, he started raising his own bottle-fed calves, from the dairy, to begin his cattle herd.
After being enlightened about the benefits of raising animals as close to their natural diets & grazing habits as possible, the switch was automatic. Now, he is excited to share his passion for being a grass farmer with his children and anyone else that is interested .
